Every Breath You Take Movie Aesthetic Poster

Phillip Clark (Casey Affleck) is a psychiatrist, his wife, Grace Clark (Michelle Monaghan), is a realtor. They are struggling to maintain their marital life after the tragic death of their son. That tragedy has created a communication gap between them. Their daughter, Lucy (India Eisley), has been expelled from the school because of drugs. Philip is going through a tough time and in the meantime, his patient, Daphne (Emily Alyn Lind), whom he miraculously saved, commits suicide. Philip's family is tearing apart, and now his job is in danger. Then, Daphne's brother, James Flagg (Sam Claflin), appears in the story. He pretends to be a noble guy, but he isn't like that, James's character is chaotic.

It's upsetting the way Phillip's character has to undergo all the pain, he seemed helpless and lonely throughout the movie. The story continues to take depressing turns until the end. I didn't like the way India Eisley's character was written, maybe the director wanted to point out poor parenting. There's a thin line between being naive and being stupid.

Why does a good guy have to go through all of this?

This is not one of those fun-to-watch movies, it is saddening and quite predictable, but it holds its surprise. Yet, people don't usually like the story of a bad guy's dominance. You may have seen the familiar type of storyline before, but the cast is exceptional, especially Casey Affleck, his sad and silent character suits his personality. Casey encouraged me to watch this movie.

(If you're planning to watch this movie, do not watch the trailer because it reveals the plot.)
