Spontaneous: The Exploding Love Story
Spontaneous isn't a regular movie about 17-year-old teens, its concept is weird where the students of Covington High School suddenly explode as if they are blood-filled balloons. (I don't know if the school's name is inspired by COVID.) It's starring '13 Reasons Why' star Katherine Langford. Charlie Plummer is known for 'Looking For Alaska' TV series.

Cast: Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer
It begins when Katelyn (Mellany Barros) was sitting in the classroom and studying like a normal student, then suddenly, BOOM! She exploded, and everyone was covered in blood. This does not end here because the students explode one by one over time as the movie progresses. During this series of bursting, a love story begins. Yes, Mara (Katherine Langford) and Dylan's (Charlie Plummer) love story.
Dylan is a nerd guy with a good sense of humor. He wanted to tell Mara that he had a crush on her because Mara would never know about his love if he got burst without telling her. The movie shows how their love story develops in this disaster. The character of Mara is bold and reckless, it reminded me of Hannah Baker.
It seemed decent for the first hour, but the last half hour was exaggerated. The director (Brian Duffield) didn't know how to extend it forward. I would say that the concept of suffering wasn't enough the way the movie ends. I was expecting an explanation for the explosion, but they didn't really explain that it was a disease or a curse. I guess they wanted us to focus on the teen drama and not the bloodbath. If you exclude the bursting thing, then Spontaneous seems like a usual teenage drama movie, but Katherine Langford makes it special, so if you're a fan of her, then you should watch this movie.
