Vivarium (2019) Movie Explained

It's been almost a year since I was waiting for 'Vivarium'. The very first moment when I saw the trailer of this movie, I was so fascinated to watch it because the concept of 'Vivarium' is very interesting and mysterious.

The Story of Vivarium
A young couple, Gemma (Imogen Poots) and Tom (Jesse Eisenberg), want to buy a house. So they visit a real estate agency where they meet a weird salesman. He drives them out of town and shows a brand-new strange symmetric residency where every house looks the same, but the whole place is completely empty. When Gemma and Tom are taking a trip to the house, suddenly the salesman disappears without any trace. Gemma and Tom were like "Oh! He is gone! Well, let's drive back home", but they didn't know that they were at home. The story and struggle begin here.

They try to drive out of this weird place, but every time they end up at the same house as if they are stuck in a loop. They ran out of gas. So far this scenario has been shown in the movie's trailer. If you haven't seen the movie yet, then you should stop reading from here because I don't want to spoil your fun by revealing further details about the movie. Even though they have revealed most of the story in the trailer.

They decide to stay at that starter home for the night. The next day, they find out that the loop of houses is endless. They try to follow the direction of the sun, but after walking the whole day they still end up at the same house. They tried to burn down the house, but the other day the house got resurrected as if nothing had happened. Later they start living in that starter home and are forced to raise a kid.

Questions
'Vivarium' has an extraordinary concept, but its end is ordinary because the movie just ends without explaining so many things.
For example:
Who is running this weird place other than the salesman?
Where is this weird place exactly located?
Why does the mutant kid watch some types of patterns on TV every night?
How does the salesman get out of the loop?

My Theory About Vivarium
If you pay attention, you can notice that the whole place is dead and fake. Fake grass, no wind, no noise, no birds/planes. The clouds are not even moving.

This weird place seems like some type of a live computer program. A program was created to observe human behaviors, maybe as parents, that's why they gave a mutant kid to raise. Maybe the salesman is an admin of this program or loop, that's why he knows how to get out of this loop by just one turn of his car!

At the end of 'Vivarium', when the salesman (the grown kid) finds himself in danger, then he opens the other layer/program to escape like Neo from Matrix. You can notice that many programs are running together and many couples are trapped. That's why I think the whole weird place is a computer program.

Dark City (1998) has a similar type of concept from my point of view. In 'Dark City', one fake city was created by aliens to observe human behaviors. Where aliens have all the control, such as they go through walls and teleport anywhere in the city. I recommend you to watch 'Dark City' because everything is explained very well in it, unlike 'Vivarium'.
