Jojo Rabbit (2019) Movie Overview
'Jojo Rabbit' is a movie focused on Germany's Nazi time and the ending phase of the war. Jojo is a ten-year-old German boy. He dreams about being Hitler's loyal Nazi. At the beginning of the movie, you will see how they brainwash little kids. They are running army training camps where they teach little kids different activities like marching, grenade-throwing, gas defence, firing guns and blowing stuff up, etc.

Genres: Comedy, Drama, War
Jojo has grown up learning that Jewish people are enemies of Germany, and they don't deserve to stay alive. Jojo has an imaginary friend who looks like Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi). This imaginary friend is Jojo's pro-nazi personality. You will see how Jojo takes advice from him throughout the movie.
Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) is Jojo's mother. She is not a war person. She believes in peace and freedom. She believes in dancing. You will see, Rosie teaches Jojo throughout the movie that the world really needs love and peace instead of wars. She is working on Germany's freedom from Hitler's dictatorship. She also hid a Jewish girl in her house. I think they have shown this part in the movie's trailer, so this isn't a spoiler. Later Jojo finds out this secret.
You will love the character of The Captain (Sam Rockwell). His character is funny and caring. He saves Jojo's life twice. The character of Jojo's friend Yorki is also hilarious.
'Jojo Rabbit' has won an Oscar Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) has played his role remarkably. This movie is tragically entertaining. Not going to lie, I find the first half of the movie a little bit slow, but the second half is worth watching. The second half is really heart-warming. It shows how a ten-year-old kid has to go through a lot because of the war. In the end, the message of this movie is "SAY NO TO WAR".
You'll also love the way Elsa (Thomasin McKenzie) describes what love is.
You'll think of nothing else.
You'll meet someone and
Spend your days dreaming of the moment
You can hold them in your arms again.
That's love.
(And you know what Jojo replies.)
I love this scene where Elsa & Jojo are sitting at the window and talking about life.
